World Swing Championships, 2001 thru current year
In 2007, Buddy held this event in Irvine, CA. All I can say is WOW - What and EVENT! The local move was a good one, although many
out-of-staters came to enjoy this great event. His son Benji was there and danced in several divisions.
This is the most age-diversified event
in the country. They even have a division with masters (over 50) and youth (under 18) which is one of the crowd's favorites.
One of the most exciting and spontaneous dance was a 'jam' that happened rigth before the awards with several youth hip-hop dancers and several
pro-hip-hop dancers. This is included in the DVD set and is about 20 minutes long with VERY good break-style and hip-hop dancing.
Buddy decided to mix it up a little in the Invitational division with WCS dancers selecting Lindy dancers to dance with, then having the couple
dance one WCS song and one Lindy song - quite an entertaining mix!
Buddy always attracts many young dancers. I'm sure these dancers will be the next Jordan & Tatianas of the swing community.
