A Tribute 'Roast' to Jack Carey and Annie Hirsh
July 24, 2004

This event, although not a competition or multi-day event, was one of the most memorable nights of outgoing support for two people who have contributed more than anyone I know to the Swing Dance community.

Over 35 years dancing together, both Jack & Annie have formed an aliance which has made a positive mark in the swing world. Jack Carey invented the Jack & Jill dance competition system, which is used today in almost all swing events. Annie Hirsh started the Swing Dance Council in 1993, which is a service organization designed to further communication and to profile informational services and record keeping for those in the Swing Dance Community.
In other words, The Swing Dance Council keeps points of dancers in all swing events who have joined the Swing Dance Council. Each winning competitor receives one or more points so he or she may qualify for the next level of dance competition.

This DVD has interviews from the who's who of the swing dance world, and over 2 hours 15 minutes of the 'Roast'. The speakers, in 'Dean Martin' style, roasted both Jack and Annie to the crowds delight. Wayne and Sharolet Bott, Skippy Blair, Robert Cordoba, and several others joined the slamming and hilarious comments that were directed towards the couple of honor (or dishonor). Mark 'the Marine' Schuefelle was the MC

If you missed this special event, you can see it on DVD for $25.
